Jazz In July
Concert Series - 2011 July. 9, 16, 23, and 30, 2011 Sitnik Theater of the Lackland Center
The
summer will swing in Hackettstown this year as the "Jazz in July" series returns but this year
to the new Sitnik Theater of the David and Carol Lackland
Performing Arts Center on the campus of Centenary College. We will offer Jazz in July
for four consecutive Saturdays, beginning July 9, 2011. The concerts feature four major jazz artists/groups
who have established themselves as great players in the world of jazz.
THE ROB STONEBACK BIG BAND is definitely a big band for the 21st century. If swing is your thing, this
is the band for you. The 17 instrumentalists and two vocalists define "class" with their renditions
of the great standards and current hits.
Rob himself also has performed with Sonny and Cher, Don Rickles, Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme, Clark
Terry, Urbie Green, Bobby Watson, Wycliffe Gordon, Al Grey, Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr., Connie
Stevens, and Connie Francis. He is an alumnus of the Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, and Harry James Orchestras.
The Al & Zoot Tribute Band featuring Lew DelGatto & Bob Keller on Tenor Sax playing the music of
Al Cohn & Zoot Sims
Featuring Lew DelGatto & Bob Keller on Tenor Sax
playing the music of Al Cohn & Zoot Sims
with Jesse Green on Piano, Tony Marino on Bass, and Tom Whaley on Drums. Lew DelGatto has been a dynamic
figure in the music scene for over 30 years. Bob Keller has been playing in the jazz scene with a 50 year span with Big Bands
(Buddy Rich Jazz Orchestra, Chuck Israel's National Jazz Ensemble...). Jesse Green is a pianist, composer, arranger, recording
artist, producer, and teacher. Tony Marino has accompanied such greats as the late Al Cohn & Zoot Sims, Mose Allison, Phil
Woods...
The Four Freshmen will be backed by a rhythm section.
Long Live The Four Freshmen - May They Never Graduate!
Outstanding Music & Vocals
from:
Curtis Calderon-Trumpet
Vince Johnson-Bass
Bob Ferreira-Drums
Brian Eichenberger-Guitar
THE FOUR FRESHMEN in the opinion of many, the greatest jazz vocal group of
all time. They’ve
been entertaining us with terrific harmony arrangements of jazz and pop standards since 1948! (You’d
think they’d of graduated by now or a least be sophomores...) The Four Freshmen are unique in
their instrumental musical ability from their smooth vocals to their own accompaniment playing nearly
a dozen instruments.
The Four Freshmen perform with that same unmistakable sound of the original group- a vocal harmony
like no other. The group not only preserves the Freshmen sound, they enhance it with their youth, vitality,
and talent giving a new treatment to the Great American Songbook! Performing jazz and pop standards
accompanied by a symphony, big band or self contained it is a show not to be missed.
Dan Levinson - Clarinet, Band Leader, Studio Recording Artist
Randy Reinhart - Cornet
Jim Fryer - Trombone
Mark Shane - Piano
Brian Nalepka - Bass, Tuba
Stephane Seva - Washboard
