The high-energy, toe-tapping sound of New Orleans jazz will fill the David and Carol Lackland Center when clarinetist Dan Levinson leads a Dixieland Bash on Saturday, July 30 at 8 PM for the Centenary Stage Company’s final Jazz in July concert of the season.

The Dixieland Bash band includes Levinson on clarinet, Randy Reinhart (band leader of the Bix Beiderbecke All-stars) on coronet, Jim Fryer on trombone, Mark Shane on piano, Brian Nalepka (founding member of the Manhattan Rhythm Kings)on bass, and special guest Stephane Seva (French “crooner” and percussionist) on washboard.

Dan Levinson
Clarinet   -   Band leader  -    Studio recording artist

A specialist in traditional jazz and swing, Dan is indeed one of the most prolific musicians on the scene today, equally at home as both a leader and sideman. Though based in New York City, Levinson’s schedule often takes him across the country and around the world. He has performed in Brazil with the Bunk Project, a band organized by Woody Allen and banjoist Eddy Davis, in Italy with the Manhattan Rhythm Kings, in Scotland with David Ostwald's Louis Armstrong Centennial Band, in Germany with the Barrelhouse Jazz Band, in Paris at the Bilboquet Jazz Club, and in Japan with the New York Ragtime Orchestra. An ardent Benny Goodman devotee, Levinson’s tributes to the clarinet legend have brought him many accolades over the years.

The Mississippi Rag calls DAN LEVINSON the "in-demand reedman." During a twenty-year career, he has appeared alongside such prominent artists as Dick Hyman, Mel Tormé, Wynton Marsalis, Leon Redbone, Ed Polcer, Howard Alden, Joe Ascione, Dan Barrett, Jon-Erik Kellso, Randy Reinhart, Mark Shane, Kevin Dorn, Dick Sudhalter, Frank Vignola, Randy Sandke, and John Cocuzzi.

Randy Reinhart
a cornetist of great talent, familiar to jazz lovers. Randy is the band leader of the Bix Beiderbecke All Stars Orchestra.

Jim Fryer
with his sometimes mellow, sometimes gruff, but always commanding trombone is the co-leader with pianist Jeff Barnhart of The Fryer-Barnhart International All Stars.

Brian Nalepka

Stephane Seva
