Get on Board with
THE WOOSTER STREET TROLLEY JAZZ BAND

Get ready to hear some joyous jazz - humorous, adventure-some and often irreverent. This band swings hard, but treats ballads with sensitivity, exhibiting both musical discipline and freedom. The "Trolley" mixes great versatility and .ne musicianship with wonderful creativity.

The result: A TRULY UNIQUE SOUND!

Louis Armstrong once said, "Ain't no work - them old ones - they play themselves." Certainly, the Trolley adheres to that philosophy. Our approach, however, is not to copy antiquity but to capture that prevalent spirit past and present. Our joy is to present “them oldies” with new perspective and arrangements, while at the same time adding new repertoire that captures our jazz heritage. ENJOY!

The Trolley's approach to jazz is unique. They do not seek to copy the styles of players on the original music. Instead, their emphasis is centered on capturing the "spirit" of the original music and reworking the songs into new arrangements.

The "Trolley" is comprised of an array of musicians hailing from the New York metropolitan area. They have all had extensive playing experience with various venues and styles from classical to jazz. They share one common bond, to work as a unit and play the music they love. That love will lead them through many styles and periods with the result being many outstanding performances you will enjoy!

Exuberant Dixieland Jazz Band that Sings, Swings and Entertains!
Delighting music lovers nearly everywhere since 1972, the Trolley has appeared at Manhattan's Red Blazer, the New Jersey Jazz Society's annual Pee Wee Memorial Stomp in Princeton, the Medford Jazz Jubilee in Oregon and the Cape May Jazz Festival at the Jersey shore. Their unique mixture of music and the upbeat atmosphere that they create make them the perfect entertainment.

"This is a good stompin' Dixieland band, as well as a tightly organized entertaining unit. I want everyone who loves traditional jazz to take a ride on the Wooster Street Trolley."
               - Joe H. Klee, Reviewer for the Mississippi Rag
