The
opening concert onLegendary guitarist John "Bucky" Pizarelli
will inaugurate the series on July 16 at 8 PM, with his dynamic Trio,
featuring a special guest on the jazz violin. With a stellar career which
included collaborations with jazz giants like Benny Goodman, Zoot Sims
and Staphane Grapelli, Pizzarellli, has worked to preserve pre- World
War II classic jazz . A native of Paterson, NJ, Pizzarelli is widely recognized
as the master of the seven-string guitar.
The seventh string (tuned to A) allows the artist to play a bass line
to his own solos. Pizzarelli began his career at the age of 17, touring
with Vaughn Monroe's dance band, and for more than half a century, he
has been part of the movement to keep mainstream and traditional jazz
alive. Jazz In July 2007
