Jammin' In July Summer Concert Series

Centenary Stage Company's Jammin' in July Summer Concert Series will keep Hackettstown buzzing with a diverse lineup of fun-for-the-whole-family events kicking off Saturday, July 13th and wrapping up with a crowd pleaser on Sunday, August 11th. Each weekend will feature a new and unique event at the Sitnik Theatre of the award-winning David and Carol Lackland Center on the campus of Centenary College.
 

'An Evening with Groucho'
Frank Ferrante

July 13, 2013 / 8pm

Award-winning actor/director/playwright Frank Ferrante brings back the classic laughs of the black and white era, in his show An Evening with Groucho July 13th at 8 pm. Frank Ferrante recreates his PBS, New York and London acclaimed portrayal of legendary comedian Groucho Marx in this fast paced 90 minute show full of hilarity. The two-act comedy consists of the best Groucho one-liners, anecdotes and songs including "Hooray For Captain Spalding," and "Lydia, The Tattooed Lady."      A show perfect for all ages!

Paragon Ragtime Orchestra
July 27, 2013 / 8pm

Venture back to the big easy with the musical group Paragon Ragtime Orchestra on the Centenary Stage July 27th at 8 pm. The Paragon Ragtime Orchestra is the world's only year-round, professional ensemble re-creating "America's Original Music" - the syncopated sounds of early musical theater, silent cinema, and vintage dance.

Since 1989 the Walt Disney Company has relied on the Orchestra's recordings for the outdoor theme music heard at Main Street, U.S.A. at Disneyland, Disney World, and Disneyland Paris; the PRO strengthened its international following during its extended engagement as a U.S. Ambassador of Goodwill at the 1992 World's Universal Exposition in Seville, Spain.

To close out the summer season is the return of the New Jersey Youth Theatre (NJYT) and their production of West Side Story which runs August 2nd - 11th. On the mean streets of New York City, two gangs are in a long-lasting duel. The Sharks, a Puerto Rican gang, grapple with the difficulties of assimilating into American society. The Jets, the "American" gang, want to resist newcomers entering their territory.
 
The world's greatest love story takes to the streets in this landmark Broadway musical that is one of the theatre's finest accomplishments.

The Centenary Stage Company has found its new home with construction the Carol and David Lackland Center (located at 715 Grand Ave, Hackettstown), completed in August, 2010. With a 22,000-square-foot performance space, the facility is the most sophisticated performing arts venues in northwest New Jersey. The center includes a new state-of-the-art 500-seat theatre (Sitnik Theater), a black box theater (The Edith Bolte Kutz ’42 Theater), a dance studio, scene shop, a costume shop, green room and dressing rooms. In addition to housing the theatre, the 68K square foot Lackland Center is home to a variety of cultural activity, and including WNTI, the College's listener-supported public radio station, CCTV, Centenary's Comcast-licensed television studio, and gallery space for visual artists.

Named in honor of Carol Burgess Lackland, A Centenary graduate (Class of 1954), and her husband, David A. Tickets for Centenary Stage Company's Jammin' in July Summer Concert Series are available through the CSC Box office at 715 Grand Ave., open 1-5 PM Monday through Friday, and 2 hours prior to each performance. They may also be purchased using our Secure Online Ticketing, or by calling the box office at 908-979-0900.
