The new facility includes ample doorways, convenient curb cuts, ramps, and automatic power doors for easy wheelchair and mobility device accessibility. There is convenient parking on a first-come, first-served basis for vehicles with handicapped placards and/or license plates. Accessible restrooms are located on the main lobby level, and there is Elevator service to the upper level of the Lackland Center. CSC offers Wheelchair-accessible and companion seating upon request. Our assistive listening devices allow you to adjust the volume of the performance and enjoy it at your own level. Large print programs are available for all Theater Series performances with a 1-week advance notice. Audio Described Performances We offer, in our outreach mission for Americans with Disabilities, Audio Described Performances, Listening Assistive Devices and special programs to meet the needs of Americans with Disabilities. Audio Described Performance is available the third Sunday of each Professional Equity Play in the series.
Open-Captioned Performances One of several "Access" services offered by CSC to Americans with disabilities, Open Captioning is a general term used to describe text displayed simultaneous to live speech, dialogue or performance, and is designed to assist patrons with hearing loss and disabilities. Also referred to as "OC," it is derived from analogue, closed captioning, which began as text-based access to broadcast programs. The term "caption" is used to define text associated with a picture. The Centenary Stage Company has found its new home with construction the Carol and David Lackland Center (located at 715 Grand Ave, Hackettstown), completed in August, 2010. With a 22,000-square-foot performance space, the facility is the most sophisticated performing arts venues in northwest New Jersey. The center includes a new state-of-the-art 500-seat theatre (Sitnik Theater), a black box theater (The Edith Bolte Kutz ’42 Theater), a dance studio, scene shop, a costume shop, green room and dressing rooms. In addition to housing the theatre, the 68K square foot Lackland Center is home to a variety of cultural activity, and including WNTI, the College's listener-supported public radio station, CCTV, Centenary's Comcast-licensed television studio, and gallery space for visual artists. Named in honor of Carol Burgess Lackland, A Centenary graduate (Class of 1954), and her husband, David A.
