It was an amazing first year! Starting with Maureen McGovern and including critically acclaimed productions of everything from Prisoner of Second Avenue, Oliver, Breakfast With Mugabe, Bad Dates and How to Pray to such incredible events as the Artie Shaw Orchestra, Bishop Townsley and The Gospel Jubilee, Bobby Caldwell and Michael Hearst and his Songs for Unusual Creatures, it has been a season of boundless treasures. The question we were faced with was “how do you top it?” Well, there was only one way we could think of; to make this season even bigger and better.
We start with our annual "Curtain Up" special event, this Sept 17th when we present the man Jerry Seinfeld called “the funniest man in America”, Larry Miller in his acclaimed show, Cocktails with Larry Miller. We continue a full season of events that will include nine time Tony Award winner Tommy Tune and the Manhattan Rhythm Kings as they celebrate in song, story and dance his fifty years in show business. And that is just the beginning. We have A Far Cry, a seventeen piece chamber orchestra that is celebrated coast to coast. We have New York’s premiere Irish fusion band, The Prodigals. We celebrate Dance with three concerts over a five day period featuring the talents of Graham Lustig, Carolyn Dorfman and Nai-Ne Chen. We have the annual return of the New Jersey Ballet.
All this is just a small part of our season because I haven’t even mentioned the theatre series that will include not only great productions like Moss Hart’s backstage comedy Light Up The Sky and Feydeaus’s brilliant farce The Ladies Man but new work such as last season’s award winning The Unfortunates set in Jack the Ripper’s London and the musical adaptation of A Christmas Carol just in time for the holiday season. And if that isn’t enough we are having a three week festival of theatre in the Kutz theatre featuring award winning companies presenting work as diverse as The Time Machine, featuring the artistry of RadioTheatre, Parallel Exit in their acclaimed physical comedy piece Exit Stage Left and veteran film/TV actor Anthony Zerbe in his It’s All Done With Mirrors based on the writing of e.e.cummings. Who would want to miss a performance by the actor who killed Charlton Heston in the film The Omega Man? This year there is truly something for everyone.
We offer lots of options. You can purchase tickets to individual events, order series passes to just theatre, dance
or black box events, or get a flex pass that lets you pick any ten to fourteen events, including the Gala and Jazz
in January performances.
Be a part of what promises to be a most singular season! If you have visited us before welcome back. If you are
new to CSC, I know you are going to love all we have planned. We look forward to the start of another great year!
Sincerely,
Carl Wallnau
