Skylands audiences are in for an electrifying evening when one of the finest Delta bluesmen on the circuit returns
to the Hackettstown stage. Recording artist Guy Davis will perform at the Centenary Stage Company on Saturday,
Feb. 9th at 8 PM.
Musician, composer, actor, director and writer, the multi-talented Davis has dedicated his career to reviving the
traditions of acoustic blues and bringing them to as many people as possible. With influences such as Blind Willie
McTell, Mississipi John Hurt, Buddy Guy, and Taj Mahal, Davis found his way into the blues through a dynamic combination
of acoustic performance and oral tradition. His performance in "Robert Johnson: Trick the Devil" won
him the 1993 Blues Foundation "Keeping the Blues Alive Award", which was presented by Robert Cray at
the W.C. Handy Awards. His release "You Don't Know My Mind" was nominated for Traditional Blues
Album of the year, and Acoustic Guitar Magazine called his album "Call Down the Thunder "one of thirty
essential CD's from a new generations of performers." Davis was recently seen in the PBS special
honoring the late Howard Armstrong, and his latest album, "Legacy" was selected as one of the Best
CD's of the Year by National Public Radio.
