New Jersey Ballet is an assemblage of professional dancers who embody the highest standards of technique and
artistry and they are ours," writes Barbara Gilford of The New York Times New Jersey Weekly. This October, the
New Jersey Ballet will open their season in Hackettstown with not one, but two unique performances at Centenary Stage
Company’s Lackland Center. Saturday, October 26th at 8 pm will feature highlights from two legendary choreographers
in A Balanchine/Robbins Evening and Sunday, October 27th at 2 pm, families can enjoy a favorite fairy tale brought
to life in Cinderella.
For more than half a century, The New Jersey Ballet has thrilled audiences from Bergen to Cape May with top quality
professional ballet and has given hundreds of thousands of adults and children their first introduction to ballet and
inspired in many a lifelong love of the arts.
New Jersey Ballet's productions for kids & families are accompanied by NJB's hallmark "storyteller" narration. "Children are enchanted when stories are brought to life through dance and narration," says Company Director Carolyn Clark. "The
combination is a very effective introduction to a classical art form."
One of NJB's most popular productions for kids & families, Cinderella is a two-act romp through the well-known fairy tale in which wickedly funny stepsisters trip over themselves trying to act like ladies, and the hours of the clock come to life and dance, and the brand new pumpkin turns into a coach before your very eyes!
You can have peace of mind while enjoying world-class entertainment with our barrier-free access available
at every Centenary Stage Company performance in the Lackland Center.
The new facility includes ample doorways, convenient curb cuts, ramps, and automatic power doors for easy wheelchair
and mobility device accessibility. There is convenient parking on a first-come, first-served basis for vehicles
with handicapped placards and/or license plates. Accessible restrooms are located on the main lobby
level, and there is Elevator service to the upper level of the Lackland Center. CSC offers Wheelchair-accessible
and companion seating upon request. Our assistive listening devices allow you to adjust the volume of the
performance and enjoy it at your own level. Large print programs are available for all Theater Series performances
with a 1-week advance notice.
The Centenary Stage Company moved to the Carol and David Lackland Center (located at 715 Grand
Ave, Hackettstown) in August, 2010. With a 22,000-square-foot performance space, the facility is the most sophisticated
performing arts venues in northwest New Jersey. The center includes a new state-of-the-art 500-seat theatre (Sitnik Theater),
a black box theater (The Edith Bolte Kutz ’42 Theater), a dance studio, scene shop, a costume shop, green room and dressing
rooms. In addition to housing the theatre, the 68K square foot Lackland Center is home to a variety of cultural activity, and
including WNTI, the College's listener-supported public radio station, CCTV, Centenary's Comcast-licensed television studio,
and gallery space for visual artists.
Named in honor of Carol Burgess Lackland, A Centenary graduate (Class of 1954), and her husband, David A. Lackland, a Centenary
College Trustee, The David and Carol Lackland Center, has been designed to enrich student life and bring new cultural opportunities
to northwest New Jersey. ...more(including photos, progress reports, and 'Tour Lackland with Carl')
